After this remarkable hike, you will be forever touched by what
Florida travel offers in the way of pristine beaches, waterways,
bird watching and landscape.
This hike is for those who avidly walk….it does require
stamina. You will wind your way through 11-12 miles of
back water trails along the inter-coastal waterway to the sand
dunes and beaches of the Atlantic Ocean where loggerhead sea
turtles nest from April to November. You will be met with wide
vistas of Florida landscape along hammock and pine flatland
habitats that have been untouched and unseen for decades.
All of your senses will be kindled as you wind your way through
a habitat consisting of 1,000 species of plants and 310
different species of birds. Enjoy being among at least 10
active bald eagle nests and hundreds of manatee lazing during the
spring in Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge.
